We help companies enhance their marketing by creating powerful, unique brand experiences presented through custom vertical walls and arrangements for showrooms, conferences, expo's and more.

You dream it, we build it.

Planted Design is a full service firm that is focused on creating beautiful, functional and sustainable designs

We connect nature in unexpected places, in unexpected ways.  Whether you are a business, designer, homeowner or planning a special event, we have the capacity to assist in your next project.

In order to create a unique living wall, we start by meeting with you at your chosen installation location. We’ll discuss your ideas, view potential spaces and answer any questions that you may have. We take note of your personal style to ensure our walls fit you and your space. We also take into account the nitty gritty: measuring the amount of natural light available and factor in exposure to elements such as wind, rain, etc. We also discuss your availability to care for the living wall or plants. We strive to pay attention to all the details to ensure your vision becomes our vision.

Our main goal is to create a living work of art. Each vertical garden is unique in design. We select from hundreds of species, based on the environment where it will be built.  We consider color, texture, pattern and size in order to achieve the greatest visual result. We examine the needs of each plant, and ensure that plants are positioned correctly so they will achieve their full potential. We also take into account the pollutants in the air. Our planting strategy is to maximize the number of species that are best at improving indoor air quality specific to your space.  As plants grow and change with the seasons, so too does the appearance of your living wall. Our goal is to create a natural installation that is interesting and beautiful thru all seasons of the year.

Here comes the fun part! Installation can take anywhere between 2 -20 hours depending on the size of the living wall.  We happily work around your business hours and schedule a time that makes the most sense for you. Our workers are efficient, organized and tidy.

Once the wall is complete, a Planted team member will revisit the site 1 week from the installation for a routine check-up. At this time, we are available to answer any questions and review your maintenance plan.

We also offer a full service maintenance program, where you can arrange to have one of our “plant whisperers” come by for regular plant maintenance. You can schedule your on-site plant care visits weekly or bi weekly to water, prune, and take care of all your plant's needs. Prices are determined by the location and size of your living wall or arrangements.

At Planted Design, we live and breathe green

-You should too-

Research shows that keeping plants inside your home can bring a host of physical and mental health benefits. Once you learn more about the therapeutic nature of plants, you'll be inspired to have us help you get your green thumb on!

Regenerative Design

At Planted Design, we are committed to improving the environment and helping to make the places we live in more beautiful and sustainable. Indoor plants assist in removing excess levels of Carbon Dioxide from the air and are gaining more attention as a regenerative-focused solution to the growing environmental problems we face today. Plants such as a Pothos, Fern or Spider are a natural tool for managing indoor air quality and contribute to a cleaner and healthier urban environment. Green walls installed outdoors help increase biodiversity and attract beneficial organisms, such as small birds, butterflies, bees and ladybugs are attracted to these green oases.

Health & Wellness

Living in urban environments, we are surrounded by concrete, traffic, noise and pollution. Over time, this has a profound impact on our physical and mental wellness. Greenery softens the environment, acting as a tonic to ease stress and fatigue.

The connection between people and plants is as old as time. Intuitively, human contact with plants and nature creates a restorative and calming effect to the human spirit. Think about the last time you went for a hike or even a stroll through the park. Can you recall the calming effect being outdoors and surrounded by nature had on your body and mind? Spending time in nature is a proven way to reduce stress, increase mental clarity, and improve overall life quality. Green walls provide a spiritual connection to nature which is missing in our modern concrete jungles. Plants help people feel more relaxed and focused, which leads to increased in productivity, creativity, idea generation, and problem solving capabilities.

“A sincere artist is not one who makes a faithful attempt to put on to canvas what is in front of him, but one who tries to create something which is, in itself, a living thing.”
— Sir William Dobell

At Planted Design, we aim to create a strikingly beautiful, unique and original work of art designed to best complement its surroundings. When visiting botanical gardens, taking a stroll in a park or hiking through a forest it is easy to see that nature has come up with a huge variety of colors, textures, patterns and sizes. We use the inspiration of natural ecosystems in our designs and see plants as our paints and walls as our canvases!

Air Quality

We currently live in a world where little is untouched by the hands of man. Pollution reaches the farthest corners of the planet, including our indoor spaces. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “people living and working in buildings of manmade materials inhale over 300 contaminants every day.”  Modern scientific research suggests that indoor environments may be as much as ten times more polluted than the outdoor environment. This is known as “Sick Building Syndrome.”

The average person spends over 90% of their time indoors. We are constantly being bombarded with indoor air pollution. This includes toxic fumes such as formaldehyde, VOCs, trichloroethylene, carbon monoxide, benzene, toluene, xylene, and countless others.

Plants are capable of cleaning indoor air of the toxic chemical soup that is common in modern buildings. NASA researchers have stated that some chemicals, such as formaldehyde and carbon monoxide, can be removed from indoor environments by the plant leaves alone. VOCs, TCE, benzene, toluene, xylene and numerous other toxic chemicals can be removed by the roots of plant. Plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen, with keeps us awake and alert.

At Planted Design, we have hundreds of different plants at our disposal to ensure that each of our green walls contain a diverse array of which are best at improving air quality. A green wall can contain over a thousand plants, all of which filter air and in addition create energy-rich oxygen. We can design our wall systems to mitigate against specific air pollutants that your home or office environment may be exposed to.

Green walls are at the cutting edge of design trends. In addition to providing a new, innovative look to a building or personal space, living walls are a great marketing tools that can be used to promote a company’s green image. The use of green walls speaks directly to the conscious consumer, which is especially important in a growing environmentally conscious world.

Have you ever been in a large room full of people talking and you feel like you have to yell so the person next to you can hear? Did you feel overwhelmed by the amount of noise and left the room with a ringing in your ears? This is due to the echo created by all of the people’s voices or music bouncing off the walls, ceilings, floors and other hard objects in the room.

The leaves of plants attenuate sound by reflecting, refracting and absorbing acoustic energy in small amounts. The amount of noise reduction is proportional to the number of plants that are present in a room. Green walls contain such a large number of plants that the acoustics of a room can be substantially improved.

Plants and trees have been used for years as barriers against traffic and other urban noise pollution. Green walls built on the exteriors of buildings act in a very similar way. They insulate against noise and vibrations, reducing sound penetration.

A Fun New Way To Think About Gardening!

Vertical gardens are an alternative for gardeners who don't have a lot of horizontal space, want to cover an unattractive wall, or just want something different.

Growing a vertical garden indoors is very similar to growing plants in containers, on the fire escape or indoors. Plants need the same thing, no matter how you arrange them. It’s a fairly straightforward process involving containers, a hanging system, water and soil. Growing a vertical wall garden indoors is the perfect way to get your herb garden without taking up precious kitchen space.
